Portable Power Pack & GPS Tracking Module for Mobile Weighing Systems

In today's dynamic industrial landscape, weighing operations are no longer confined to fixed locations. Field service teams, mobile inspection units, logistics fleets, and temporary production sites all require weighing systems that can travel with them. However, mobility introduces two critical challenges:

1. Power Dependency: Most industrial scales rely on mains electricity. In the field, power outlets may be unavailable, unreliable, or located far from the weighing point.

2. Asset Tracking: When scales are moved between sites, vehicles, or field teams, knowing their exact location becomes essential for fleet management, maintenance scheduling, and theft prevention.

The Lithium Ion Battery Pack and GPS Receiver Module address these challenges directly, transforming your weighing system from a fixed installation into a truly mobile, trackable, and field-ready asset.

Accessory 1: Lithium Ion Battery 7.4V/2200mAh (M4)

This is a rechargeable, high-capacity Lithium Ion battery pack designed specifically for portable weighing consoles. It provides a reliable, cordless power source that frees your scale from the tether of a wall outlet, enabling true field operation.

Key Features & Benefits:

1. High Energy Density: The 7.4V / 2200mAh rating delivers a substantial power reserve, supporting extended weighing sessions on a single charge. This is particularly valuable for field teams who may spend hours at a remote site without access to charging facilities.

2. Lithium Ion Technology: Unlike older Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd) or Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries, Lithium Ion offers a superior power-to-weight ratio, no "memory effect" (meaning you can recharge at any time without reducing capacity), and a much lower self-discharge rate. The battery holds its charge for weeks or months when not in use, so it is ready when you need it.

3. Long Cycle Life: This battery is rated for hundreds of charge-discharge cycles, providing years of reliable service before needing replacement. This makes it a cost-effective investment over the long term.

4. Lightweight & Compact: The battery pack is designed to be as light as possible to avoid adding unnecessary weight to the portable console. This is crucial for field technicians who carry their equipment over long distances.

5. Hot-Swap Capability: In many configurations, the battery can be swapped quickly, allowing the operator to replace a depleted battery with a fresh one without shutting down the weighing system or losing data. This ensures uninterrupted operation during extended shifts.

6. Built-in Protection Circuitry: The battery includes internal protection against overcharging, over-discharging, short circuits, and thermal overload. This ensures safe operation and extends the battery's lifespan.

Compatibility:

This Lithium Ion battery pack is specifically designed for use with the following models:

1. DX-451 HP (High Performance)

2. DX-451 MW (Mobile Weighing)

3. DX-451 TW (Trade/Weighing)

Note: The battery is a direct drop-in replacement for the standard power source in these console models. Always verify that your specific model variant supports battery operation before ordering.

Ideal Use Cases:

1. Field Service & Mobile Calibration: Technicians can travel to customer sites, set up their scale, and operate it for a full day without needing to find a power outlet.

2. Remote Warehousing & Storage: Scales located in large warehouses with sparse power outlets can be positioned exactly where they are needed, not just where the nearest socket is located.

3. Temporary Production Lines: Pop-up manufacturing or packing lines can operate independently of the facility's power grid, allowing for rapid deployment and relocation.

4. Emergency Response & Disaster Relief: In situations where mains power is unavailable, battery-powered scales provide critical weight data for logistics, supply distribution, and medical applications.

5. Agricultural Field Operations: Weighing livestock feed, produce, or harvested crops directly in the field, far from any building or power source.

Accessory 2: GPS Receiver Module for SI‑850 (M2)

The GPS Receiver Module is an add-on device that integrates with the SI‑850 weighing console to provide real-time location data. It enables the weighing system to know exactly where it is at any given moment, transmitting that information to a central management system.

Key Features & Benefits:

1. Real-Time Location Tracking: The module uses Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites to determine the console's precise geographical coordinates (latitude, longitude, altitude). This data can be transmitted via the console's communication interfaces (e.g., cellular modem, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet) to a central server or fleet management dashboard.

2. Geofencing Capabilities: You can define virtual geographic boundaries (geofences) around specific areas. When a console enters or leaves a geofenced zone, the system can trigger alerts. This is valuable for asset management, ensuring that expensive equipment stays within designated areas.

3. Enhanced Fleet Management: For logistics companies with multiple mobile scales deployed across different vehicles or sites, the GPS module provides a unified view of where each scale is located. This allows for better resource allocation, route optimization, and quicker response to customer requests.

4. Maintenance & Servicing Alerts: By tracking the location and usage patterns of each console, service teams can plan preventive maintenance more effectively. If a scale has been used extensively in harsh conditions, the system can flag it for earlier servicing.

5. Theft Deterrence & Recovery: If a mobile scale is stolen or misplaced, the GPS module provides the location data needed to recover the asset. This is a significant security benefit for high-value weighing equipment.

6. Operational Data Correlation: Combining weight data with location data provides powerful insights. For example, a logistics company can analyze which routes generate the heaviest loads or which sites require the most frequent calibration.

Compatibility:

The GPS Receiver Module is specifically designed for the SI‑850 weighing console. It connects via the console's expansion port or serial communication interface.

Note: The module requires a clear view of the sky to receive GPS signals. It is typically mounted on the top or side of the console housing. Integration with the console's firmware is required to enable GPS data transmission.

Ideal Use Cases:

1. Mobile Weighing Fleets: Companies operating weigh-in-motion or mobile axle weighing systems in trucks or trailers can track each unit's location and availability.

2. Construction & Mining Sites: Heavy equipment scales used in remote or temporary sites can be tracked to ensure they are positioned correctly for the current project phase.

3. Waste Management & Recycling: Mobile weighbridges deployed at different collection points can be tracked, allowing central dispatch to direct the nearest scale to a new site.

4. Agricultural Harvesting: GPS-enabled scales on combines or harvesters can log both the weight of the crop and the GPS location of the harvest, enabling precision agriculture mapping.

Combined Applications: The Portable, Trackable Weighing System

When used together, the Lithium Ion Battery (M4) and GPS Receiver (M2) transform a standard weighing console into a complete mobile asset.

1. The Battery frees the scale from the power grid, allowing it to operate anywhere—in a truck, at a remote site, or on a temporary production floor.

2. The GPS tracks where the scale goes, enabling fleet managers to optimize deployment, schedule maintenance, and prevent theft.

Consider a mobile axle weighing operation for a logistics company:

1. The operator arrives at a roadside inspection site with the SI‑850 console powered by the Lithium Ion battery.

2. The scale is set up and weighs the axles of passing trucks without needing to be plugged in.

3. The GPS module logs the exact location of each weighing event, associating the weight data with a specific geographic point.

4. Back at the central office, managers see a live map showing all deployed scales, their current status, and the weight data collected from each location.

This level of mobility and traceability is essential for modern logistics, compliance enforcement, and field-based quality control.

Installation & Maintenance Tips

1. Battery: Always use the manufacturer-supplied charger designed specifically for this Lithium Ion pack. Overcharging or using an incompatible charger can damage the battery and create a fire risk. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods.

2. GPS Module: Mount the GPS antenna in a location with a clear, unobstructed view of the sky. Avoid mounting it near large metal objects or inside metal cabinets, as these can block GPS signals. Periodically check the antenna connection for corrosion or looseness.
